The Department of Chemical Engineering, through the Asset Management Company of the University of Patras, was a founding member of the spin-off company HELBIO SA Production Systems Hydrogen & Energy. The company was founded in 2002 to promote technologies of hydrogen production from renewable raw materials and power generation using fuel cells. It is located in the Patras Science Park and employs several graduates of the Department, mainly PhD holders.
